Jean-Pierre Leroy, Belgium, and the current European Co-Ordinator, rememebered the first meeting some 20 years ago, and highlighted the growing importance of this kind of event. He recalled that some years ago the EVS agreed a major text called 'New Vocations for a New Europe', and he stated that all Vocation Directors are hoping that the 'Year for Priests' which has been initiated will be an opportunity for all priests to renew their own priestly lives, and through that to become better influnces on (young) men to answer the call of vocation to priesthood.
The first paper delivered was that of Professor Rosana Vigili on the Dynamics of Call and Response. The Vocation Directors will meet the Holy Father in a private audience on Saturday 4th July.
